Halff’s Ahmad and Busch Earn LSLS Licensure
RICHARDSON, Texas — Survey Deputy Practice Leader Jib Ahmad and Survey Team Leader Trent Busch have joined the elite list of 58 active Licensed State Land Surveyors (LSLS) in the state of Texas.
An LSLS is a professional surveyor licensed by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to survey land in which the state or the permanent school fund has an interest. LSLS tasks include working on patents, deeds of acquittance, vacancies and coastal boundary surveys, with the final documents being recorded at the General Land Office (GLO).
Obtaining LSLS licensure is a rigorous process. To be eligible to take the exam, candidates must meet with the chief surveyor of Texas for an orientation at the GLO, complete a working sketch of a possible vacancy, and write a Surveyor’s Report acceptable to the GLO for the possible vacancy. To pass the exam, candidates need to have a keen working knowledge of the statutes and court rulings that dictate boundary resolution and be able to put them in writing from memory.

For the first time in firm history, Halff has two LSLS designees on staff. Ahmad and Busch were honored by Halff’s Surveying Practice with LSLS medallions in recognition of their achievement.
